About

We work with local communities talking to people in everyday places such as shopping centres, support groups and community events

Evidence is clear that early diagnosis saves lives.

It’s a major factor in providing successful treatment. To reinforce this key message we get creative – offering:

  • Talks and Presentations
  • Quizzes and Games
  • Informal Discussions
  • Health Stands
  • Staff Training

We tailor our service to the needs of individual groups and ensure our tone is both light and interactive, because we know cancer can be an emotive
topic.

Our History

The Leeds Cancer Awareness Project began in 2017 as part of the Leeds Cancer Programme and is managed by multi award winning Unique Improvements, a social enterprise based in the North West.

In April 2022 the project went through re-procurement adding long-term conditions to the contract. Seeing the start of Leeds Health Awareness, this project will run for a minimum of 5 years

Our Vision

Our vision is that by the activities of this project, we will see an increase in Leeds residents making use of the free NHS screening programmes and health checks, knowledge of a variety of long-term conditions, symptoms and taking positive action by visiting their GP at the earliest opportunity.

The team hope to reduce the stigma and encourage more people to get talking about health.

The project is working hard to share the message that ‘small changes can save lives’.
